What this removes

This tool compares lines in pasted text and removes repeated entries. It is useful for cleaning keyword lists, email lists, exported rows, copied table columns, tags, product names, log fragments, and plain text files without opening a spreadsheet.

The default behavior keeps the first version of each line so the cleaned list stays close to the original order. Optional settings help you decide whether whitespace, capitalization, or sorting should affect the final result.

Options

Keep original order

Useful for pasted lists, exported rows, log snippets, and keyword lists where the first occurrence should remain in its original position.

Trim whitespace

Treats lines with accidental spaces before or after the text as the same value, which catches common copy-and-paste duplicates.

Case sensitive matching

Keep this on when Example and example should remain separate. Turn it off when capitalization should not matter.

Sort output

Use sorting when you need a clean alphabetical list for review, matching, documentation, or simple comparison work.

How to clean a list

  1. Paste the list or multi-line text into the input box.
  2. Enable trimming when copied lines may contain accidental leading or trailing spaces.
  3. Turn off case-sensitive matching when capitalization should not create separate results.
  4. Turn on sorting only when alphabetical output is more useful than preserving original order.
  5. Review the cleaned result, then copy it for your next workflow.

Privacy and limitations

The current version runs the duplicate check in your browser and does not require an account, file upload, or server-side processing for normal use.

Duplicate detection is line-based. It will not understand semantic duplicates such as abbreviations, translated terms, misspellings, or two lines that mean the same thing but are written differently.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool keep the first duplicate or the last duplicate?

By default, it keeps the first occurrence and removes later matching lines. This helps preserve the order of the original pasted list.

Can it ignore uppercase and lowercase differences?

Yes. Turn off Case sensitive when lines such as Apple and apple should be treated as the same value.

Will blank lines be removed?

The cleanup is focused on duplicate lines. Review the output when blank lines have meaning in your source text or when empty rows came from an export.

Is my list uploaded anywhere?

No. The current version processes text in your browser. Do not paste private or regulated data unless your own policies allow browser-based tools.

How this page is maintained

This tool page is maintained for practical accuracy, clear limitations, browser-based processing behavior, and links to related cleanup tasks. It is intended for everyday text cleanup, not for legal, medical, financial, security, or other high-stakes decisions.

Browser-local processing

The current tool runs in the browser and does not require an account, upload, or server-side text processing for normal use.

Reviewed behavior

Examples, options, and limitations are checked against the actual tool behavior before public pages are added to the site.

Human review still matters

Text cleanup can miss source-specific issues such as broken words, malformed data, or copied table artifacts, so review important output before reuse.
